I have heard that the audio version of this book was much better, and I’ve flagged the narrator of the book for future reference. Overall, it was an easy read and a calm read, after the scary book I read right before this (Shutter Island). I also would have enjoyed missing the dynamic of the characters all knowing each other from high school, wishing it could have been a little less predictable in that way. One True Loves falls into this category.In 2023, it became a major motion picture starring Phillipa Soo and Simu Liu. If I could have changed anything, I would love have loved more character development of the main character’s friendships. Daisy Jones and the Six and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo are two of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s most well-known works.However, they are only two in a list of intriguing stories about love and complicated relationships. Then your husband is presumed dead after a tragic helicopter accident, a day before your first wedding anniversary. I loved watching how as an adult, how her parents treated her, with just enough guidance but not being overbearing. Imagine you marry your best friend.your confidante.your one and only. I loved the family dynamics at play in this, mirroring some of my own. I kept asking myself what I would do in her situation and I honestly had no idea.

It was so interesting to really feel her confusion and distress in making her choice there really was no right or wrong answer to this dilemma she was in, which made it interesting to read. I honestly thought this book would turn out much differently not giving too many spoilers, but I was convinced she would make a different choice in the end. When we talked about it later, she couldn’t believe I didn’t see it coming. I kept this in my mind the whole time I was reading, thinking I would know exactly what happened before the ending. She told me that it was a fun, easy read and that I would know the ending before I got there. It will be released digitally on April 14 and was produced by BuzzFeed Studios.

This was a book passed down to my from my cousin Kelsi (as many of my books are). One True Loves, a rom-com based on her 2016 novel of the same name, was released in theaters on April 7.
